The state of Arizona (like most states) requires vehicle owners to carry liability insurance. Liability insurance is meant to cover bodily injuries and property damage suffered by others in a car accident that is caused by the driver that is insured. The minimum level of coverage required by the state is not always sufficient and may not fully cover medical treatment or other losses. If you or a loved one has been in an accident and have been injured by an underinsured driver, then it is extremely important that you contact an experienced car accident attorney to help you navigate the complexities of the case you are facing.

Arizona Mandatory Insurance Requirements

In Arizona, there is a requirement for a minimum level of insurance that is carried by vehicle owners. The minimums are:

  • $25,000 for bodily injury per person
  • $50,000 for bodily injury per accident
  • $15,000 for property damage per accident

This coverage is typically enough to cover minor injuries in a car accident, but if you or a loved one have been in a serious or catastrophic accident, then these minimums will not have you covered.

Recovering Compensation for Injuries Caused by an Underinsured Driver

If you or a loved one have been injured in a car accident with an uninsured or underinsured driver, then our attorneys will work with you to find the most effective way to recover damages and make sure your medical bills are paid for. We advise that everyone carry uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage with your insurance provider to make sure you are protected in these scenarios. If you have serious injuries and the other party does not have insurance or is underinsured, then you may be able to file a claim with your own insurance provider to make up for the difference between the other party’s insurance and the amount you need to cover your damages and injuries.
